Harold Schroeder FCMC, C.H.R.P. is President & CEO of Schroeder & Schroeder Inc.

 

Harold is an experienced management consultant with over 25 years of consulting experience at firms such as Ernst & Young, KPMG and Towers Perrin. Harold has served clients throughout North America and internationally, while consulting in Europe over a 4 year period. In Europe he was responsible for developing and managing a consulting practice in the area of Corporate Management and Organization.

 

Harold has conducted and managed consulting projects in a broad range of industry sectors and functional areas. Most recently, his work has focused on Strategy Formulation and Implementation; Corporate Organization and Development; Operational Effectiveness and Improvement and Change Management.

·          Project manager on a study for a German/Estonian joint venture involving the analysis of major operating problems. The project involved on-site investigations in Tallinn and Moscow.

 

·          Conducted a review of operations and staffing levels of health care facilities in Hamburg. This project included the determination of appropriate staffing levels and the impact on required financial resources.

·          Analysis of customer satisfaction; customer segmentation and identification of customer “touch-points”; e.g.: for a multinational pharmaceuticals company.

·          Project manager on a major market survey of industrial firms in former East Germany to identify possible re-development solutions.

Strategic HR Assessment and Alignment 

 

·          Strategic assessment of the value proposition and realignment/reengineering of the human resources function and organization; e.g.: for an international integrated oil company

 

·          Alignment analysis of Human Resources programs with the business strategy of several organizations.

 

HR Process Reengineering and Outsourcing

 

·          Project director on the redesign/reengineering of benefits administration processes and the development of detailed implementation plans ; e.g.: for a pharmaceuticals company.

 

·          Outsourcing feasibility studies; e.g.:  for outsourcing the benefits administration process of a major Canadian university.

·          Project director on a major study for 30 government departments to examine recruitment and retention issues.

 

Industry Wide Human Resources Supply  

 

·          Significant involvement in a National study on the supply of human resources in the biotech sector. Assessed issues and developed recommendations for the Federal government.

 

Organizational Structure and Role/Job Definitions 

 

·          Reviewed organizational structure and role/job definitions; e.g.: development of job descriptions for over 120 different jobs in an international courier company; defined and described the role of the executive director for a major national philanthropic organization.

 

 

   Compensation Systems

 

·          Project manager on numerous projects involving job evaluation, pay equity analysis and development of total reward/compensation programs. Industry sectors include, for example: steel and equipment manufacturing, municipal government, hotels, courier companies, arts funding organizations, cement manufacturing, distributors, etc.

 

·          Coordinator of a major job evaluation and pay equity engagement with the Ontario Hospital Association. This project involved approximately 20 consultants in providing analysis to some 170 hospitals. Also acted as project director on pay equity engagements for over 12 hospitals. Assistance was provided to a number of these hospitals to also develop new compensation structures for their non-unionized jobs.

        

 

·          Major involvement in the design of a new job evaluation system and classification/pay structure for the Ontario government. This project covered the senior management levels of all Ontario government ministries (approximately 2,000 positions, representing the top 6 or 7 levels up to the Assistant Deputy Minister). The evaluation system used a computerized program called COMPEAT

·          Conducted salary surveys for various private and public sector organizations for a range of occupations and professions, including for example: a survey on executive positions compensation; a national and international survey on performance and incentive based compensation systems for health care providers in Canada.
