Canadian Organization Development Institute presents:
The Future of OD: Where is the field going?
Panel Discussion on the future of the Field
and Key Questions
Tuesday, February 12th, 2008
The Faculty Club
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
6:00 – 6:30 p.m. Registration, Networking & Light supper
6:30 – 9:00 p.m. The Future of OD - Panel Discussion
Topics of Discussion will include:
• Organizational change vs. social change: where are the overlaps and what is the difference?
• Using OD skills to have an impact on social change: where are the unseen opportunities?
• Is OD still relevant to senior decision-making levels or has it been marginalized?
• Can OD survive on “process” skills alone? – has the time come for more depth in business knowledge or other content knowledge in combination with OD?
• Is OD a profession or a set of technologies?
• Professionalism and Practice: Is there a difference between “practitioner” and “professional” – what is it?
• Where is quality control in OD? What kind of professional training/core skill development do OD practitioners need? Do we need some “gate-keeping” in the field?
