Shivering in Peshkopi, Sheltering in Chibougamau:
An OD Practitioner's Journey into Social Innovation
Ingrid Richter shares her insights.
When: Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm Light dinner & Networking at 6:00 pm Location: The National Club
How is it that one of our Toronto ACCORD members finds herself in Northeast Albania studying communal forestry practices? Why was she stuck in Chibougamau, en route to Mistissini--apart from recent forest fires evacuated the community?
As an OD professional, Ingrid has become fascinated with 'boundary-crossings' and how to take what we have learned from working with organizational systems into social transformation work...and from there back again. She will share stories of assignments that have taken her across Africa, Europe and North America, and what she sees as emerging global challenges for OD practitioners, community developers, and all kinds of leaders.
Ingrid will encourage us to engage in a lively exploration of our own assumptions
and ideas on the following questions:
ØWhere can we see some examples of people truly collaborating and inventing new ways to create social and economic capital together?
ØWhat do organizations need to do to successfully nurture the social, ecological and spiritual foundations of the world that we live in?
ØWhat do we practitioners need to do to weave diverse disciplines and practices together, and to support innovative responses to "wicked messes"?
Ingrid is a long-time ACCORD member, and the co-chair of the International Organization Development Association conference, to be held in August 2007 at Sun Peaks, B.C.
