OISE/UT CERTIFICATE IN ADULT TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

OPTIONAL MODULE: THE FUNDAMENTALS OF E-LEARNING

In response to the rapid emergence of e-learning as an educational approach in the workplace, OISE at the University of Toronto, in partnership with eMisphere Solutions, Montreal, has developed a three day module on e-learning fundamentals. The emphasis of this course is on the principles, unique considerations and practical applications of e-learning. The course has a workplace focus, and a strong practical element, in addition to providing the theory needed to understand the key elements of e-learning.

We are currently accepting applications for our June 15-17, 2005 E-learning Module, to be held at OISE/UT, Room 5-175 at a cost of $750.00, including course materials. For detailed information regarding the module and/or to register please visit our website below.

About this module: This module is the ideal starting point for trainers, instructional designers, training managers or knowledge management professionals. The module will provide participants with an opportunity to develop a basic but functional understanding of how to leverage educational technology for effective adult learning.

Using a blended delivery approach mixing face-to-face interaction with on-line activities, the module includes presentations, demonstrations, hands-on activities and lab work with the opportunity for questions and discussion. This is supplemented by print materials that contain presentation slides and other relevant information, as well as workshop exercises for future reference.

Who should attend: Candidates for the OISE/UT Certificate in Adult Training and Development, or others with equivalent background in adult learning principles and practices, who have an interest in learning how to leverage technology as an approach to support adult learning.

Prerequisites: Participants would benefit from having basic computing skills such as how to use a web browser, common desktop applications (Word, PowerPoint) and an ability to use basic operating systems (for opening and saving files and opening and closing applications). Also, the completion of the following Certificate Program modules, or their equivalent, is required prior to taking this program:
